My name is Pauline Massimo, the founder of Learn Shibari, rope artist and Shibari educator. I was born in Brazil, in a tiny town in the middle of the gigantesque Amazonian rainforest. I grew up in Brazil until I was 13 and then moved to the north of Spain. Yes, I know, it was an important change from the tropical to a mediterranean weather, but hey, I would say I love that both are equally humid!
Personal interests: Veganism, sustainability, Arts, crafts, cats.
I discovered Shibari back in 2010, but I didn’t start my first steps into it until 2012. While discovering Shibari, a form of art that was perfect for me, I started a journey that would lead me to discover aspects of myself and Humanity and help me grow as a person. My views in Shibari have been shaped strongly by my personal believes, as a human being, a professional and a creator.
Shibari is a form of art that creates infinite possibilities of creation. As any art form, the style and approach can be taught to others, be experimented with, be subjected to evolution, to change, to create, to enhance creativity.
I do not consider myself part of any movement, nor I follow any specific style or master.
My way of tying, teaching, and my knowledge are a mix of many years of experience, self-improvement, conscious evolution, and unique sense of style.
I had the pleasure to work with some of the best professionals around the world.
I have been teaching, performing, and presenting my work at various events, festivals, venues, etc. in the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Greece, Brazil, etc.
Some events I have been teaching or performing are: Ópera Garnier in Paris, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Theatre Des Arts in Rouen, l’Auditorium de Lyon, EURIX in Berlin, Anatomie Studio in London, Place des Cordes in Paris, Ellipsis Event in Rotterdam, Faust in Athens, Mutuo in Barcelona, Wasteland in Amsterdam, Bound in London, various art galleries in Spain, various tattoos conventions, Paradiso in Amsterdam, Torture Garden London, El apeadero in Granada, Prague Shibari Festival, Faust in Athens, Rope Space in São Paulo, Entre Nós in Brazilia, Ventri in Rio de Janeiro, PRRope Lyon, SubSpace in Prague, Entrelace Festival Brasilia, and many more.
In 2019 I’m planning to travel to: Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid.
I'm always open to visit new destinations and work at different events and venues, as well as with different organizers. Bringing a wider and more accessible approach to anyone anywhere.
Travels calendar plans: HERE
Inspired by fine arts and body mechanics, this is where I mostly focus my work as a Shibari creator and educator.
I have been attending several workshops, master classes and private tuitions with the top and most interesting riggers/models related to Shibari from Japan, Europe and other places, since 2012.
I have attended to: Kazami Ranki, Kinoko Hajimi, Naka Akira, Otanawa, Pedro Cordas, Yagami Ren, Fuoco, KissMeDeadlyDoll, EURIX since 2013, Prague Shibari Festival, and much more.
I have a full comprehension of body mechanics thanks to my background on yoga and circus knowledge.
I expand every year my knowledge about the human body and how it formally works, as much as my training, my education in couching, and teaching and performance skills.
